“Over 500 Guests Celebrate National Day at Cocktail Reception Organized by Hong Kong Industry and Commerce.

On September 19, the Hong Kong Business Compatriots’ National Day Celebrations Organizing Committee hosted a cocktail reception to commemorate the 65th National Day. The event brought together over 500 guests from the industrial, business and other sectors for an special evening of celebrations and festivities. All those present expressed their wish that the different sectors of society would make full use of their competitive advantages to play an active role in future development on both sides of the border, and to contribute to an ever stronger and more affluent China as well as a stable and prosperous Hong Kong.

The dignitaries at the event included Mr. C.Y. Leung, Chief Executive of the HKSAR; Ms. Yin Xiaojing, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR; Ms. Tong Xiaoling, Deputy Commissioner in the HKSAR of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Donald Tsang Yam Kuen, former Chief Executive of the HKSAR; Ms. Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet Ngor, Chief Secretary for Administration of the Hong Kong Government; Mr. Zhou Wugang, Director of the Political Department of the People’s Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison; Mr. John Tsang Chun Wah, Financial Secretary of Hong Kong. In his capacity as a guest of honour and one of the representatives of the organizer, Mr. Kit Szeto, Chairman of the Cultural Industries Committee of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce (CGCC) and Director & CEO of Dim Sum TV, was on hand to welcome the guests.

The reception got under way with a stirring rendition of the national anthem. In his welcoming speech on behalf of the organizing committee, Mr. Yang Zhao Xian, Chairman of the CGCC, said that over the past 65 years ago, the new China has been gaining steadily in national strength while achieving a continuous increase in the quality of life for its people. In the past year, the central government has broadened and deepened the implementation of its reform blueprint. At the same time, the national leadership has been leading the effort to establish a new international development bank for the BRICs, and called for the formation of the “Silk Road economic belt” and the “21st Century Maritime Silk Road”. These strategic initiatives will lay a solid foundation for China’s sustained economic growth as well as peaceful pan-regional development. Mr. Yang also took the opportunity to express his gratitude to the central government for upholding the “One Country, Two Systems” principle, bolstering the prosperity and stability of Hong Kong and Macau in the process and bringing Hong Kong further economic opportunities.
