The Zi Jin Gu Supporting Centre for Innovative Business Development Established to Encourage the Launch of Start-ups

In order to fully implement the national development strategy laid down in the national 13th Five-year Plan to encourage youngsters from Hong Kong and Macau who own their mini, small or medium enterprises to start business in Mainland China, the contract signing and opening ceremony of the Zi Jin Gu Supporting Centre for Innovative Business Development (abbreviated as the Centre) took place at the hotel of Grand Hyatt Hong Kong in the afternoon of 25 April. Hong Kong China Chamber Of Commerce has taken the lead in the setting up of the Centre. Mr Chen jingwei, Chairman of  Hong Kong King Wai Group has donated HK$200 million to 10 higher education institutions in Mainland China, inviting Peking University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Tongji University, Sun Yat-sen University, Jinan University, University of International Business and Economics, China Foreign Affairs University, Renmin University of China and the Communication University of China to set up the Centre within each of these institutions.

Dim Sum TV, a supporting media for the event, participated in the ceremony to witness the occasion.

Mr Chen Jingwei, Chairman of Hong Kong King Wai Group introduced to the guests the objectives and expectations for setting up the Centre. He said, “It is hoped that the Centre can provide practical support to the youths in Hong Kong and Macau to effectively launch their business in the Mainland and such efforts could contribute to the country’s economic development.”

Mr. Zhang Xiaoming, Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region shared with the guess the stories of how Mr Chen Jingwei provided clothes and clothing to China’s villages years ago and he fully recognized Mr Chen as a caring enterprise and philanthropist who is innovative and visionary. Mr Zhang encouraged youths in Hong Kong and Macau to, according to one’s own needs, take part in courses launched by the Centre set up in these higher education institutions so as to lay solid foundation for creating and developing new businesses in the future.

One of the guests Professor Yuanjun, the Vice President of the Communication University of China said that the University as a cradle nurturing media professionals of China would fully integrate its resources and edges in the media sector to provide youngsters with a communication platform for learning, exchanges and collaboration so as to nurture innovative talents.

The Centre will designate a phase of five years for providing supporting services and each of the services lasts about two weeks to three months. Each institution will, aligning with its academic disciplines which have edges, launch courses such as that relating to the Internet, cultural and creative industry, TV and film production, multi-electronic commerce, town planning and architecture and design. Professional as well as comprehensive support and counselling services will be provided.
