Mr. Zhang Guo Liang, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Organizing Committee, delivered a speech at the National Day reception, in which he has invited all fellow guests to revisit Hong Kong’s important role in contemporary Chinese journalism. For over one and a half century, a significant number of patriotic talents from the media sector have produced influential news reports and critiques during the significant historical moments in Hong Kong and China. Their combined efforts have contributed greatly towards Hong Kong and China’s development, as well as earning them stellar reputation.

Mr. Zhang also frankly pointed out existing shortcomings in the industry when he criticized that there are some coworkers in the media industry who do not abide by the Code of Conduct in reporting the truth, nor value the quality of the news, but rather pursuing the extremes, resulting to misleading and distorted information.
At the end of his speech, Mr Zhang quoted from Gu Yanwu, a scholar from late Ming to early Qing dynasty, that “the rise and fall of a nation concerns everyone”, to encourage all media practitioners to respect the established values of their craft, work towards promoting Hong Kong’s understanding of the mainland, and expand China’s global influence with Hong Kong as its base.
As one of the significant organizations in the media industry, Dim Sum TV will continue its endeavor to provide audiences with exceptional programmes and contribute towards the better development of the Hong Kong’s media industry.

In 1956, several local patriotic media organizations have co-organized the first press reception in celebration of the National Day, and during these sixty years, with China’s reform and historical moments such as the handover of Hong Kong, more and more media organizations have been participating in the National Day celebration.
