“Hand in hand: Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Connection” celebrates the establishment of Guangdong Radio and Television Hong Kong Office

On 20 October 2016, over hundreds of guests from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau attended the opening ceremony of the establishment of the Guangdong Radio and Television Hong Kong Office.

Guangdong Radio and Television (GRT) Hong Kong Office was approved by The State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of the People’s Republic of China (SAPPRFT) to station in Hong Kong. It aims to promote the economic and social development of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau by producing quality news reports and delivering greater varieties of Cantonese television and broadcasting programmes.

Mr Kit Szeto, CEO & President of Dim Sum TV was invited to witness the success of the opening ceremony and exchanged ideas with guests from different sectors. As a partner of GRT, Dim Sum TV will collaborate with Guangdong enterprises and produce more entertaining programs for audiences.

Mr Zhang Hui Jian, Head of Guangdong Radio and Television, introduced to the fellow guests the development of GRT in the past 30 years. Back in 2004 and 2005, GRT has started two Cantonese channels, namely The Pearl River Channel and TVS in Hong Kong, offering a diversity of informational and entertainment options to the Hong Kong population.

Mrs Florence Hui Hiu Fai, Deputy Director General of Home Affairs Bureau, stated that Hong Kong audiences have enjoyed the programmes of GRT and with the establishment of GRT Hong Kong Office, she looks forward to seeing more quality programmes that will enrich Hong Kong cultural life.

The opening ceremony reached its climax when winning singers of ‘King Mic’ from The Pearl River Channel of Guangdong TV station sang their hip-hop song.

Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau are geographically interdependent and their inseparable trilateral relationship can be reflected through their economic, social and cultural connections. With the establishment of Guangdong Radio and Television HK office, the exchange and interaction of these three places will be further enhanced.
