Commemorating China’s 40th Anniversary of Reform and Opening-up Hong Kong and Macao compatriots participated in the opening ceremony of the large-scale photo exhibition dedicated to the Reform and Opening-up of the Mainland

"Sharing the Great Glory" – “A Photo Exhibition dedicated to commemorating China’s 40th Anniversary of the Reform and Opening-up, Hong Kong and Macao Compatriots’ Contributions” started on August 10, 2018 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center Hall 3B. More than 450 eminent personnels from the political and business circles attended the opening ceremony, including Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Tung Chee-hwa, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, Special Commissioner of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong Xie Feng, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of CPR in HKSAR Yang Jian, Chief of staff of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison He Qimao, Chairman of the Legislative Council Andrew Leung Kwan-yuen and member of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress Tam Yiu-chung.

Jiang Zaizhong, Director of Hong Kong Ta Kung Wen Wei Media Group Limited & Chairman of Organizing Committee, said that in the past 40 years, Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao have been in a relationship of mutual benefits and a win-win cooperation. General Secretary Xi Jinping, who visited Hong Kong last year, gave high praise to Hong Kong. He said that Hong Kong compatriots have made active contributions to the Country’s Reform, Opening-up, and modernization process. In this regard, the Central government and the people of the Country have never forgotten. The unique advantages of "One Country, Two Systems" have made Hong Kong and Macao play an unreplaceable role as "Super Connector" in connecting Mainland and the rest of the world.

In her speech, Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor said that in the past 40 years, Hong Kong have witnessed tremendous achievements in the Country’s economic and social development. In the Country’s Reform and Opening-up, Hong Kong is not only a "contributor" but also a "beneficiary." In the early days of the Country’s Reform and Opening-up, a large number of Hong Kong businessmen and Hong Kong entrepreneurs took the lead in investing in Mainland. As the external window of the Country at that time, Hong Kong constantly provided funds, talents and management systems for the Country with its own advantages. At the same time, Hong Kong’s manufacturing production line moved northward to the Pearl River Delta region, grasping the opportunity of the Mainland manufacturing industry take off, successfully transforming itself into an important bridge connecting the Mainland with the world market, and establishing and consolidating today Hong Kong’s status as an international trade, logistics, shipping, financial and professional services center. It also reflects the fact that Hong Kong is in "Mutual Development" and "Mutual Prosperity" with the Country.

The Exhibition consisting of nearly 300 exhibition boards and displaying more than a thousand precious photos telling the story of the dynamics between the Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao for the past 40 years. It is divided into many parts themed "Great Times" (「波瀾壯闊大時代」), "Uniting Together" (「團結一致向前看」), "Fate Community" (「命運共同體」), "Dare to Be the First"(「敢為天下先」), "Marching to Great Success" (「眾志成大業」), "Super Connector" (「超級聯系人」), "Interaction achieves Win-Win" (「互動創共贏」), "Sharing the Same Backbone" (「骨肉總相連」), and "Heading to a New Journey" (「昂首再上新征程」), which are richly illustrated and have far-reaching meanings. The "Exhibition" opening hours are on August 10th at 12:00-19:30, August 11th at 10:00-19:30 and August 12th at 10:00-16:00.
