Dim Sum TV puts spotlight on the implementation of
“The Outline of the Plan for the Reform and Development of the Pearl River Delta”

From April to June, subsequent to the proclamation of “The Outline of the Plan for the Reform and Development of the Pearl River Delta”, business delegations led by Mr. Henry Tang, Chief Secretary of the Hong Kong SAR, embarked on a 9-city tour of the Pearl River Delta region. On July 21, the Hong Kong SAR government played host to an economic forum on future Hong Kong-Guangdong cooperation attended by the leaders of the 9 municipalities. The event was given full coverage by Dim Sum TV.

Dim Sum TV has long been working to provide a solid media platform for dialogue and exchange between Hong Kong, Macau, Guangdong and the Greater Pearl River Delta region. Dim Sum’s programming such as “Talk of Fame”, which invited the Who’s Who of the region to tell their own personal stories, as well as “The PRD Code” and “Beyond the PRD”, were all notable vehicles for this strong geo-cultural focus.

“The Outline of the Plan for the Reform and Development of the Pearl River Delta” has painted in broad strokes the prospect of full Hong Kong-Macau-Guangdong integration, and has in turn given Dim Sum TV an even larger media canvas. Dim Sum TV is committed to chronicling the growth of this burgeoning metropolitan hub every step of the way.

The objective of the tour led by Mr. Tang was to give Hong Kong’s business community a firsthand look at the implementation of “The Outline of the Plan for the Reform and Development of the Pearl River Delta”, and to explore the potential for greater cooperation between Hong Kong and Guangdong industries. On April 24, Mr. Tang and approximately 100 delegates arrived at the first stop on their tour, Guangzhou, where they were given a warm reception by the Secretary of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee, Mr. Wang Yang.

Mr. Tang said that cross-border cooperation had been given a high priority in all of the 9 cities of the Pearl River Delta, each of which had its own unique positioning and was keen on reinforcing bilateral relations with Hong Kong based on complementary competitive advantages. During the economic forum in Hong Kong, all the municipal leaders highlighted the advantages of their respective cities and expressed their strong interest in strengthening ties with the Hong Kong business community.
