Dim Sum TV Takes Part In Radio Television Hong Kong’s “Roaring Tiger, Flying Dragon” Chinese New Year Celebrations

To mark the beginning of the Year of the Tiger, Radio Television Hong Kong joined the broadcasting community on February 23 in a special “Roaring Tiger, Flying Dragon” Chinese New Year get-together to extend their best wishes to Hong Kong people and overseas Chinese communities. Mr. Kit Szeto, Director and Chief Executive Officer of Dim Sum TV, was invited to the event.

To get the customary lion dance under way, Mrs. Rita Lau Ng Wai-lan, JP, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, and Mr. Franklin Wong Wah-kay, Director of Broadcasting, were invited to electronically paint the eyes of the lions in a ceremony combining tradition and technology. In her opening address, Mrs. Lau expressed her optimism that the Year of the Tiger would see even greater prosperity for the broadcasting industry.

During the celebrations, representatives of a number of media organizations joined in a toast on stage, including Ms. Nancy Hu, Chief Executive Officer of Asia TV, Mr. Kit Szeto, Director and Chief Executive Officer of Dim Sum TV, Ms. Musetta Y.H. Wu, Executive Director of i-CABLE Entertainment, Ms. Rita Chan, General Manager of Commercial Radio, Ms. Bianca Ma, Managing Director of Metro Broadcast, Ms. Janice Lee, Executive Vice President, TV & New Media of PCCW, Mr. Liu Chang Le, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Phoenix Satellite Television, Mr. Stephen Chan, General Manager of TVB, Mr. Siu Kim Chau, Vice President of TVB Pay Vision, and others.

Ms. Mabel Cheung and Mr. Alex Law, the producer and director respectively of Echoes of the Rainbow, the winner of the Crystal Bear for the Best Feature Film at the 60th Berlin International Film Festival, made a joint appearance to wish Hong Kong continued success in the international arena.

With a number of world-class events on this year’s calendar, Hong Kong’s media will continue to demonstrate their professionalism and dedication in bringing the best and the latest to Hong Kong people. The three major events of the Year of the Tiger are: the FIFA World Cup in South Africa, the Guangzhou Asian Games and the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai.
