The Hong Kong Mobile Appsanity 2012 Award Presentation Ceremony

On October 30, the Hong Kong Commerce, Industry & Professionals Association hosted its 7th anniversary cocktail reception plus the Hong Kong Mobile Appsanity 2012 award presentation ceremony at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Mr. Kit Szeto, Director & CEO of Dim Sum TV, one of the competition’s supporting organizations, was invited to the event as one of the award presenters.

The Hong Kong Commerce, Industry & Professionals Association was founded in 2005. It aims to bring together individuals from commerce, industry and the professions who share a love of the motherland and Hong Kong, promote exchange and cooperation across the border, help instill a stronger sense of national and cultural pride in the people of Hong Kong, and contribute to China’s modernization and Hong Kong’s stability and prosperity. To foster local creativity and encourage the entrepreneurial spirit to thrive during times of economic uncertainty, the Hong Kong Commerce, Industry & Professionals Association, the Hong Kong Cultural and Educational Exchange Association (Organizing Committee) and SINO Dynamic Solutions have jointly organized the Hong Kong Mobile Appsanity 2012 competition. During its 3-month call-for-entry period, the competition drew an overwhelming response, attracting 957 entrants from Malaysia, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong and other countries.

In his welcome speech, Mr. Stephen T.F. Tai, GBS, JP, Chairman of the Hong Kong Commerce, Industry & Professionals Association, acknowledged the work and the achievements of association over the 7 years since its establishment and pledged his support for the HKSAR government’s administrative efforts. In that context, the Hong Kong Commerce, Industry & Professionals Association had organized the Hong Kong Mobile Appsanity 2012 competition to help create more career opportunities for young people. Ms. Chu Lien Fan, Chairwoman of the Hong Kong Commerce, Industry & Professionals Association, took the opportunity to thank the various department heads of the HKSAR administration and the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR for their guidance and support, as well as the cultural and media fraternities for their positive input and feedback. The association’s achievements are the fruits of the collective labour of its members, who will continue to work closely together in the future.

During the cocktail reception, two commemorative plaques – one inscribed with “A Gentleman of Virtues” and the other with “A Titan Among Women” - were presented to Mr. Peter H. Pang, Member of the CPPCC of Guangdong Province, and Mrs. Wu Po Lam, Member of the National Committee of the CPPCC, respectively. The event’s sponsors also received certificates of appreciation, while the guests of honour were presented with commemorative gifts.

In the Hong Kong Mobile Appsanity 2012 award presentation ceremony that followed, Mr. Jasper Tsang Yok Sing, President of the Legislative Council of the HKSAR, presented the prizes fors the Gold Award winner, whose entry received a remarkable 289,898 downloads in just 2 months. The Silver Award and Bronze Award were presented by Mr Jack Chan Jick Chi, Deputy Director of the Home Affairs Department of the HKSAR and Prof. Li Lu, Deputy Director of the Science and Technology Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR respectively. A number of Merit Award winners were also on stage to collect their prizes in a joyous, celebratory atmosphere.
