Welcome In The Year Of The Horse
On February 5, 2014, representatives from 13 Hong Kong electronic media gathered at Radio Television Hong Kong Broadcasting House for the RTHK Year of the Horse Celebration to mark the arrival of the new year. They also joined together to wish Hong Kong a prosperous year ahead, and the local media industry continued success in delivering an even better, more diversified news and entertainment experience to the public.

The thriving local media industry was well-represented at the celebration. In addition to Mr. Roy Tang, Director of Broadcasting, the media representatives present included: Mr. Lau Lan Cheong, Senior Vice-President of ATV; Mr. Kelvin Lai, General Manager of Digital Broadcasting Corporation Hong Kong Ltd.; Mr. Kit Szeto, Director & CEO of Dim Sum TV; Mr. Ronald Chiu, Executive Director of i-CABLE Comminications Ltd.; Mr. Ken Kwok, Programme Development Manager of Hong Kong Commercial Broadcasting Co. Ltd.; Ms. Bianca Ma, Managing Director of Metro Broadcast Corporation Ltd.; Mr. Li Rong Fu, CEO of One TV Media Global Ltd.; Mr. Ho Lai Chuen, Executive Vice President of PCCW Media Ltd.; Ms. Carol Yu, Executive Head of Phoenix U Radio; Mr. K.K. To get the event under way, the representatives of the participating electronic media, Mr. Ambrose Ho, Chairman of the Communications Authority and Mr. Roy Tang, Director of Broadcasting, each held a giant carrot, signifying wealth and auspicious times, and posed for a group photo on stage next to an abstract sculpture of a gold horse to symbolize a great harvest for all in the year ahead.
After the suckling pig cutting ceremony, the representatives of the electronic media took turns extending their best wishes to their fellow media practitioners and the public in a festive, convivial atmosphere.

Another highlight of this year’s event was the presentation of a pair of calligraphy scrolls penned by media industry veteran Mr. Yang Shui exhorting media professionals to work together to reach new heights.
