“Panda and His Friends” Painting Exhibition Opens In Hong Kong To Advocate Cultural Exchange and Environmental Protection
To add fresh impetus to artistic and cultural exchange between the young people of the mainland and Hong Kong, a public exhibition of Chinese paintings by mainland artist Liu Zhong, entitled “Panda and His Friends”, was held at the Hong Kong Central Library from March 18-20.
Giant pandas are on the endangered species list and protected by the national government. By highlighting these cuddly creatures in their natural habitat, the exhibition was intended to help advance the environmental protection agenda. This initiative also took the form of concrete action, with Mr. Liu extending an invitation to the Hong Kong public, the aim of which was to recruit 20 youths to travel to Ya’an in Sichuan, the home of the panda, and take part in the “Close Encounters with Pandas” Sichuan summer camp in July.
