Fellow Media Professionals Gather at RTHK Group Greeting Gala for the New Year of the Monkey 2016
On 15 Feb, the eighth day of the Lunar New Year, Hong Kong’s major electronic media representatives and friends of the sector gathered at the Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) to enjoy a celebration gala the station hosted – Group Greeting for the Prosperous Year of the Monkey. Mr Kit Szeto, Director & CEO of Dim Sum TV was invited to the party.

The theme of the Group Greeting gala is “Mountain of Flowers and Fruits” which was especially chosen for the Year of Monkey. A group of primary and secondary students from the martial arts team of The ISF Academy performed dances ,fusing martial arts and Hip Hop which they thoughtfully choreographed, demonstrating ample innovation. A cappella choir sang a medley of songs for new year blessings, which created the most exciting moment for the gala.

Delivering a speech in the gala, Mr Kit Szeto summed up the major trend in Hong Kong’s electronic media sector over the past year . He pointed out that, with rapid development of video transmission over the internet, the audience has more choice of diversified and abundant quality programming content than ever. Mr Szeto looked forward to the concerted efforts made by the sector whose hearts would join as one in this Year of the Monkey to produce more quality and innovative programmes for the audience. He also made a good wish for all: “Bits of good things cluster, making all goes well as one wishes .”

Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Mr Gregory SO Kam-leung partnered with the Director of Broadcasting Mr LEUNG Ka-wing to hold the ceremony of “The Windwill Ushering in An Abundant Year”. In his speech, Mr So said that the media industry was advancing by leaps and bounds and the RTHK had been trying multi-media collaborations. He hopes that the station can keep abreast of the times to provide the audience with programmes closely meeting their needs.
