TV WORLD 2016 Explores Opportunities for Film and TV Industry Brought by “the Belt and Road Initiative”

The annual event, TV WORLD 2016, had its press conference held at the Miramar Hotel on 25 Feb afternoon.

TV WORLD, an event jointly organized by the Hong Kong Televisioners Association (HKTVA) and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), is an integral part of the Hong Kong International Film and TV Market (FILMART) held in March each year. The event, which enters its 10th anniversary this year, has become a spectacular occasion for the industry. Various local media organizations are to gather together to share professional knowledge, seek opportunities for business cooperation and explore how the TV industry can approach diversified development and innovation in a new era under new environment.

In his speech, Chairman of the Hong Kong Televisioners Association (HKTVA) Mr. Tsui Siu Ming expressed his gratitude for the people who have been all along showing concern for the development of the TV industry in Hong Kong. He also briefed the guests on various activities held in the TV WORLD event. The highlight is the annual workshop with a theme this year namely the “Virtual Technology World” which provides the audience with unique 3D space images, feasting viewers’ eyes on gorgeous visual enjoyment.

Director & CEO of Dim Sum TV Mr Kit Szeto also made a speech as the TV industry representative, In response to the theme of the event this year, ‘“Belt & Road” Business Opportunities for the Global TV Industry’,Mr Szeto addressed the issue with a perspective of how to communicate Chinese culture to the outside world and that the film and TV industry could grasp the opportunities brought about by China’s “the Belt and Road Initiatives”. He pointed out that Hong Kong as a hub of world cultures plays a crucial role in communicating Chinese culture to the outside world as well as enhancing the influence of Chinese culture on the international community. He hopes that fellows in the industry can join hands and hearts to create high quality programmes, networking people together and also seizing business opportunities the film and TV industry encounters.

HKTVA Chairman Mr. Tsui Siu Ming, who was interviewed by the TV programme host of Dim Sum TV Ms Janice Lee Wing-ka after the press conference, expressed his anticipation and aims of the TV WORLD event. He hopes that the TV WORLD can provide a platform on exchanges and collaboration for the TV industry and thus make significant contributions to the development of the industry.

The TV WORLD event starts with its inaugural International Forum which will commence on 15 March, during which leading figures of the TV industry from Mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong will gather together to put forward ideas and advice on ‘“Belt & Road” Business Opportunities for the Global TV Industry ’,the theme of the Forum this year.
