2017 TV World 2017 Press Conference cheering on for upcoming TV World events

TV World 2017 held a press conference on March 3 afternoon at The Mira Hong Kong, Tsim Sha Tsui in celebration for the series of upcoming events organized by TV World.

TV World, jointly organized by the Hong Kong Televisioners Association and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, has always been an important part of the Hong Kong International Film and TV Market (FILMART) held in March every year. Since its establishment in 2004, its goal has been to gather local TV practitioners and strengthen the exchanges and collaboration with the Mainland and global TV industry, in order to cultivate a new generation of professionals in the industry.

Mr. Tsui Siu Ming, Chairman of the HKTVA, started his speech by introducing and analysing the characteristics of the internet TV and film industry development. He pointed out that as internet drama has become more popular, profits behind billion hit rates can be staggering, and this new trend has made an unprecedented impact on the traditional TV market . Whether the internet poses challenges or brings opportunities will be the theme of this year’s TV World Forum.

As one of the representatives of the 2017 TV World Advisory Committee, Mr. Kit Szeto, Director and Chief Executive Officer of Dim Sum TV, attended the event and introduced to the guests his view on the future development of the internet and the TV and film industry.

In his speech, Mr. Szeto listed a series of internet phenomena, such as decline in traditional television viewership, which has adversely also affected the advertising revenue. However, on the hand, he stated that internet content providers can then effectively identify their target audiences with its increasing hit rates. In face of the unprecedented face and scale of development internet, Mr. Szeto believed that inspiring discussions through the TV World forum can generate new ideas on how to counter the challenges and capitalize on the internet trend to find opportunities for the film and TV industry.

This year’s TV World event revolve around two key parts: international TV and film industry leaders will be invited to discuss about the new trend, and a “Mixed Reality” workshop will be conducted to allow audiences to explore into the VR, AR and MR technical fields and what they are expected to bring to the future.

After 11 tireless years, TV World has developed and prospered into a major event and platform, in which prominent TV and film leaders from Hong Kong, Mainland China and around the world come together, to foster exchange and collaboration within the industry .
