To Strengthen the Development and Connection of Hong Kong and Mainland China, the Organising Committee of Compatriots in Hong Kong in Celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China Launched

The Organising Committee of Compatriots in Hong Kong in Celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) was launched at the auditorium of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, Hong Kong in the afternoon of 11th July, 2019. About 100 members of the Organising Committee attended the launch ceremony.

Mr. Tung Chee-hwa, Executive Chairman of the Presidium of the Organising Committee hosted the launch ceremony. The meeting approved the candidate list of honorary chairmen, chairmen, consultants, members of the presidium of the Organising Committee, the secretary-general, the deputy secretary-general and directors of each division. Two performances to celebrate the National Day were confirmed.

Mr. Wang Zhimin, Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in HKSAR pointed out in his speech that the past 70 years since the founding of PRC witnessed Hong Kong and Mainland China crystallized the development together and made the breakthrough in economy. He hoped that people in Hong Kong and Mainland China can help each other as a team and create a new era of prosperity by taking advantages of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Belt and Road.

The Organising Committee will present a variety show at 7 p.m. on 2nd October and a youth concert at 8 p.m. on 3rd October at Hong Kong Coliseum to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of PRC. In addition to the live performances, Hong Kong people and even all the Chinese around the world can share the joy of the 70th anniversary together by watching the shows on Hong Kong and foreign TV stations and radio, and Internet.

Dr. Jonathan Choi Koon-shum, Secretary-General of the Organising Committee said the variety show with the theme of “Connecting with Our Home and Country” will demonstrate China’s brilliant achievements over 70 years in the past through diverse performances, including music, dance and singing. The youth concert is dedicated to celebrating the National Day with young people by giving a performance full of energy and vibrancy. He strengthened that the 70th anniversary of the founding of PRC is of great significance and the Organising Committee will make every effort to assist the celebration.
