Hong Kong and Mainland: Working and Moving on together The Organising Committee of Compatriots of Commercial and Industrial Circles of Hong Kong in Celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China Launched

The Organising Committee of Compatriots of Commercial and Industrial Circles of Hong Kong in Celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) was launched at the auditorium of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, Hong Kong in the afternoon of 29th July, 2019. Mr. Tan Tieniu, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) was invited to the meeting.

The presidium of the Orgainising Committee is chaired by Dr. Jonathan Choi Koon-shum, Chairman of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Gao Yingxin, Chairman of the Hong Kong Chinese Enterprises Association, Dr. Daniel Yip, Deputy Chairman of FHKI, Dr. Dennis Ng Wang Pun, President of the Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong, Mr. Peter Wong, Deputy Chairman of HKGCC, Mr. Stewart Leung, Chairman of Executive Committee of the Real Estate Developers Association of Hong Kong. Dr. Jonathan Choi Koon-Shum also serves as the executive chairman of the Organising Committee.

The standing committee constituted by the chairman, members of the presidium, the secretary-general, the deputy secretary-general, directors and candidates of each department of the Organising Committee is responsible for the celebrations of the National Day. Mr. Kit Szeto, Director and CEO of Dim Sum TV, was invited to the deputy director of the publicity department.

The National Day reception in Celebration of the 70th of the Founding of PRC was confirmed to be held at the Island Shangri-La Hotel, Hong Kong, on Friday 6th September. The Organising Committee will prepare an artwork to celebrate the National Day for display at the outer wall of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce from 1st September to 31st October.

Dr. Jonathan Choi Koon-Shum, Executive Chairman of the Organising Committee, said in his speech that China has made brilliant achievements in different fields since its founding, and now has become the world’s second largest economy, playing a significant role in the world. As the promotion of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area and ‘One Belt, One Road’, both Mainland China and Hong Kong will meet new opportunities to develop. Acting as a connector, an investor and an operator, Hong Kong’s uniqueness will be more prominent in the Greater Bay Area. Mr. Choi called on people in Hong Kong commercial and industrial circles to explore the cooperation with others, concentrating on improving the development of the society in economy and people’s life.

Mr. Tan Tieniu, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in HKSAR, pointed out that China has made a significant progress in the past 70 years. Over the latest 40 years, China has become the world’s second largest economy, moved ‘One Belt One Road’ forward and made progress, becoming a source of stabling and driving force to the global economy. Mr. Tan believed that only when 1.4 billion Chinese people including people of Hong Kong work together can China has a bright future.
