Dim Sum TV’s Director & CEO Mr. Kit Szeto Joins Lunar New Year Celebration at RTHK’s “Year of the Ox Group Greeting”
On January 30, 2009—the fifth day of the Lunar New Year—Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) hosted a New Year’s gathering for representatives of electronic broadcast media in Hong Kong and senior officials from the Hong Kong SAR Government. Dim Sum TV Director and Chief Executive Officer Mr. Kit Szeto was honored to join in making a toast to the New Lunar Year together with other.

This year’s ceremony was different—it blended traditional and innovative technologies to deliver the New Year message. It was officiated by Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mrs. Rita Lau, and Director of Broadcasting, Mr. Franklin Wah. Together, they bid good luck to the media industry this year, and expressed their wish that the industry would grow strong and adapt successfully to the times. They also wished the Hong Kong 2009 East Asian Games success.
Mr. Franklin Wah also spoke of the challenges that lie ahead this year for the Hong Kong media industry. In his speech, he noted that RTHK alone had been through 80 years of highs and lows, and has witnessed numerous storms and crises, but that the Hong Kong people are strong, diligent, creative and will be able to overcome any difficulties put before them. In fact, he noted, from these trying experiences, Hong Kong has grown more optimistic and open-minded, and has become more focused on continuous self-improvement. He went on to explain that this year, there are many serious events lying ahead, including the global financial tsunami, the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, and the East Asian Games in Hong Kong, among others. He also explained that RTHK will take an active role in leading the public broadcasting industry, and strive to be fair and unbiased in its pursuit of quality programming. RTHK will continue to grow stronger and lead the way toward the future of broadcasting, he explained, and will strive to become a leader in cross-platform development.
