Dim Sum TV took part in the organizing of
the News Media’s 60th National Day Cocktail Reception

On September 25, the Hong Kong Media Preparatory Committee for the Celebration of National Day hosted a special cocktail reception for the journalist community at JW Marriott Hotel in Hong Kong to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the new China. Dim Sum TV, one of the event’s organizers, was represented by its Director & CEO, Mr. Kit Szeto.

The reception was attended by over 500 guests, including the Chief Executive of the HKSAR, Mr. Donald Tsang, and the Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in HKSAR, Mr. Peng Qing Hua, as well as journalists and senior executives of Hong Kong’s news media.

In his welcoming speech, Mr. Zhang Guo Liang, Executive Chairman of the Hong Kong Media Preparatory Committee for the Celebration of National Day, Member of The National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, and Chairman of the Hong Kong Federation of Journalists, said that at a time when China is rapidly rising to become a world power and Hong Kong is enjoying unprecedented stability and prosperity, the journalist community’s involvement in the 60th National Day celebrations takes on special significance. The rise of the new China is the most epic, momentous development in world politics in the 20th century. Not only has this resurgence laid down a new blueprint for the future development of Chinese society, but it also represents a fundamental shift in the strategic balance of power in the international arena. Mr. Zhang went on to say that such ceremonies as the raising of the national flag and the singing of the national anthem have instilled a strong sense of collective identity and pride in the hearts and minds of Hong Kong people. As China prospers, so too will Hong Kong.

To chronicle the parallel development of the Chinese nation and Hong Kong news media over the decades, the organizing committee will publish a 60-page special-edition booklet that highlights the key mainland coverage of 15 Hong Kong media organizations over the last 60 years. The publication will carry dedications penned by Mr. Tung Chee Hwa, Vice-Chairman of The National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, and Donald Tsang, Chief Executive of the HKSAR, and will be distributed to all the guests at the reception and relevant government ministries on the mainland.
