Also invited to the event were the teachers and students of Fukien Secondary School. Five students from the school had taken part in the “1911 Revolution Learning Tour” held from August 10 to 16. The tour had attracted close to 1,000 students from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and the mainland, who took part in the 1911 Revolution Youth Forum, and visited a number of historically significant destinations, including The Red Chamber in Wuhan and the National Museum of China in Beijing. From this eye-opening experience, the students came away with a new appreciation of the profound meaning of the 1911 Revolution within the context of modern Chinese history, and China’s long and arduous road to modernity.
