Dim Sum TV and Wen Wei Po Daily News to Step Up
Cooperationon Overseas Chinese Media Platform

On November 23, 2011, Mr. Kit Szeto, Director & Chief Executive Officer of Dim Sum TV, paid a visit to Mr. Wang Shu Cheng, President of Wen Wei Po Daily News. During the visit, Mr. Szeto and Mr. Wang discussed plans for making use of the platform offered by overseas Chinese media to facilitate closer collaboration between the two media groups, with the objective of pursuing a multi-channel, multi-viewpoint strategy for promoting Chinese culture abroad.

Mr. Wang updated Mr. Szeto on the annual meeting of the Overseas Chinese Media Cooperation Organization that was concluded on November 21 in Zhengzhou, Henan, and extended an invitation to Dim Sum TV to join the organization. Accepting the invitation, Mr. Szeto said that Dim Sum TV is committed to serving the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao region with an international perspective, and is ready to work closely with overseas media to speed up the internationalization of Chinese culture.

The Overseas Chinese Media Cooperation Organization was established in 2009 as a result of the efforts and advocacy of Wen Wei Po Daily News. Its mandate is to bolster the influence of Chinese media worldwide and, by extension, of Chinese culture in the global context, thereby creating an environment conducive to a more balanced and reasoned international public opinion arena. The ultimate goal is to construct a strong platform for Chinese culture to “go international”. Its members include Chinese media organizations from the U.S., Canada, South Africa, France, the U.K., the Netherlands, Greece, Romania, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Taiwan. This is the first time the organization has held its annual conference in mainland China.
