Mr. Kit Szeto attends the “Guangdong’s Economic Transformation and Upgrade: Implementation and Prospects” High-Level Conference
The 2011 “Guangdong’s Economic Transformation and Upgrade: Implementation and Prospects” high-level conference, jointly organized by the Publicity Department of Guangdong Province, the People’s Government of Zhaoqing Municipality and Hong Kong Wen Wei Po Daily News, was held on October 21 in Zhaoqing. Among the many opinion leaders invited to the event was Mr. Kit Szeto, Director & Chief Executive Officer of Dim Sum TV.

The conference covered such topics as the practical significance of Guangdong’s economic transformation within the context of world economic trends, the relevance for national economic development of Guangdong’s successful economic transformation. Mr. Lin Xiong, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Guangdong Committee and Director General of the Publicity Department of the CPC Guangdong Committee, said that the encouraging results of Guangdong’s economic metamorphosis after 3 years have become an important signpost for the rest of the country. Looking ahead, Guangdong should continue to build on its success and remain in the forefront in other areas of development.

One of the speakers at the forum, Ms. Li Luyun, Vice President of the Guangdong Provincial Government’s Center for Development Research, says that there is much that the rest of the country can borrow from Guangdong’s experience in industrial and labour re-orientation, as well as its efforts to facilitate coordinated regional development and high-end production capability upgrade.
In his interview with Guangdong’s GDTV World, Mr. Kit Szeto says that the world economy is going through a period of adjustment. The conference has provided much valuable information that sheds light on the extensive government efforts in promoting economic transformation. Many proactive new policies have also been proposed to help drive industrial and regional economic transformation.
During the conference, senior members of overseas Chinese-language media in the U.S., Japan, Greece, Malaysia, Taiwan and Hong Kong engaged in a broad-based exchange of ideas and far-ranging discussion with their counterparts from Guangdong media organizations.
