Working Meeting of Hong Kong/Guangdong Cooperation Joint Conference Introduces 3 Measures To Facilitate Cross-Border Traffic
The 17th Working Meeting of the Hong Kong/Guangdong Cooperation Joint Conference was held on January 9 at the new Central Government Offices in Central. The two delegations were led by Mr. Stephen Lam, Chief Secretary for Administration of the HKSAR, and Ms. Zhao Yufang, Vice Governor of the Guangdong People’s Government. The latest governmental and civic developments in Guangdong-Hong Kong cooperation have long been a key focus of Dim Sum TV’s journalistic coverage.

The meeting summarized the work on Guangdong/Hong Kong cooperation that was done in the inaugural year of the 12th National Five-Year Plan, and established the building of a Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Quality Living Circle as a tangible target. In other developments, people on both sides of the border would no doubt welcome the ratification of 3 new measures that would greatly facilitate the two-way traffic flow between Guangdong and Hong Kong.
The first measure, scheduled to be implemented as a pilot project in March at the Shenzhen Bay checkpoint, will make it possible for people from Hong Kong to tour Guangdong in their private vehicles. The second measure will see the introduction of the Lingnan Tong and Octopus Two-In-One Card. And the third one will open the e-Channel automated immigration checkpoint facility to frequent mainland travelers to Hong Kong.
