Dim Sum TV Wins Cultural Communication
Innovative Award at the
“Leading Lights of Hong Kong” 15th Anniversary
of the HKSAR Award Ceremony

The “Leading Lights of Hong Kong” 15th Anniversary of HKSAR Award Ceremony, organized by the Overseas Chinese Media Organization and Wen Wei Po, was held on July 31. The awards recognized the contributions to the stability and prosperity of Hong Kong as well as the One Country, Two Systems principle made by individuals, organizations, cities and enterprises. By putting these contributions in the spotlight, the awards’ organizers aimed at encouraging people from all walks of life to continue to help drive Hong Kong’s and China’s development through individual endeavours and initiatives. Mr. Kit Szeto, Director & CEO of Dim Sum TV, accepted the Cultural Communication Innovation Award on behalf of the network.

The luminaries at the event spanned the political and cultural elites in Hong Kong. They included Mr. Yang Jianping, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR; Ms. Jiang Yu, Deputy Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong; Mr. Tsang Hin-chi, Member of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress; Mr. Tang Yiyuan, Director of the Taiwan Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR; Mr. Ng Hong Man, Chairman of the Pui Kiu Education Foundation; Mr. Jasper Tsang Yok-sing, President of the Legislative Council of the HKSAR; Mr. Xu Rongmao, Member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference; famous recording artist and actor Mr. Andy Lau; Mr. Wang Shucheng, Chairman of the Board and President of Wen Wei Po.

Also at the ceremony were Mr. David C.Y. Pong, Director of Dim Sum TV and Ms. Ceci Chuang, Project Director of Dim Sum TV. According to the organizers, Dim Sum TV is the first Guangdong-Hong Kong joint-venture TV network dedicated to the cultural cross-pollination between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau. In particular, its success in attracting a wide audience by combining a lively, up-to-date and vibrant program line-up with an innovative broadcasting culture is an achievement that deserves recognition and encouragement.

When asked how he felt about the award, Mr. Kit Szeto said that he was very pleased to accept it on behalf of Dim Sum TV and thanked the network’s two founding partners, Mr. David C.Y. Pong and Southern Media Corporation. He also expressed his appreciation for all of Dim Sum TV’s staff and supporters, and said this recognition of Dim Sum TV’s past efforts will inspire it to do even better in the future.

Mr. Kit Szeto said that, as the first joint-venture Guangdong-Hong Kong TV network, Dim Sum TV pioneered the concept of cross-cultural content that transcends the boundaries between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau. Its programs are conceived to give audiences an in-depth look at life in these three places and help promote cross-border understanding. It is his hope that, by eliminating geographical distance, Dim Sum TV can help foster shared goals that will provide the driving force for sustained development in the Greater Pearl River Delta region.

During the ceremony, a number of awards were presented, including the Meritorious Personages Award, Glorious Cities Award, Distinguished Enterprises Award, Mainland Investment Hotspots Award, Outstanding Enterprises Award, Outstanding Persons Award, the 15th Anniversary of the HKSAR – Special Commemorative Award, the 15th Anniversary of the HKSAR – Outstanding Contribution Person Award, the 15th Anniversary of the HKSAR – Special Contributions Award, the 15th Anniversary of the HKSAR – Cultural Communication Innovative Award, the 15th Anniversary of the HKSAR – Ambassador of Cultural Communication Award.
