Since its introduction in 2007, Southern School Documentary has become an important category of Guangdong Day. The category aims at broadening the international exposure of local broadcasters and promoting international cultural exchange by recognizing excellence in documentary filmmaking. It also serves as a showcase for the long cultural heritage of the southern Guangdong region and the province’s achievements in economic and social development. To encourage diversity in the efforts to cultivate southern Guangdong as a distinct cultural brand in film and television, this year’s Southern School Documentary was augmented by 2 new categories: City Image Publicity Film and Guangdong Intangible Cultural Heritage Film Series. Savoir-faire Guangdong, the Dim Sum TV documentary series, won 3rd Prize in the former category.
