Six Hundred Guests Toast the New Year
at the CGCC Spring Cocktail Reception

On February 22, the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce (CGCC) hosted its Spring Cocktail Reception in the grand ballroom of the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong. The guests of honour were: Mr. C.Y. Leung, Chief Executive of the HKSAR; Ms. Yin Xiaojing, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR; Ms. Jiang Yu, Deputy Commissioner, Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the HKSAR; Major General Dong Chao, Deputy Commander of the People’s Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison; Mrs. Carrie Lam, Chief Secretary for Administration of the HKSAR. They were joined by close to 600 guests in extending new year wishes to one and all.

In his capacity as Member of the Standing Committee and Chairman of the Cultural Industries Committee of the CGCC, Mr. Kit Szeto, Director & CEO of Dim Sum TV, was on hand to welcome the guests alongside other CGCC Committee members.

Looking ahead, Mr. Charles Yeung, Chairman of the CGCC, said that the association will remain unstinting in its support of the HKSAR government’s policies and its contribution to the motherland’s steady economic growth. He expressed his wish that business leaders will be quick to accommodate change as well as each other’s needs, thereby helping to propel Hong Kong’s economy forward. He concluded by sending best wishes to everyone on behalf of the CGCC.

Other guests included officials of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR, principal officials of the HKSAR, deputies to the National People’s Congress, members of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, members of the Executive Council and Legislative Council, consul-generals in Hong Kong, and representatives of various industrial and commercial organizations, all of whom joined in a toast to a strong China and a prosperous Hong Kong.
