Huang Bin, Deputy Director of the Publicity Department, Guangdong Provincial Committee of the CPC, Visits Dim Sum TV.

On July 11, 2013, a delegation led by Mr. Huang Bin, the new Deputy Director of the Publicity Department, Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, arrived at the Guangzhou office of Dim Sum TV for a tour of the network’s facilities. During his visit, Mr. Huang described Dim Sum TV’s programming as characterized by a spirited “lifestyle culture”. By that, he meant that Dim Sum TV articulated culture by showcasing the lifestyle of the younger generation of Guangdong, Hong Kong and the Greater Pearl River Delta region. Culture is the result of creation as well as accumulation. Ten years from now, today’s “lifestyle culture” will have become yesterday’s legacy. Mr. Huang expressed his hope that Dim Sum TV would continue to build on this approach and develop it into a unique style.

Mr. Huang was given an overview of Dim Sum TV by Mr. Kit Szeto as well as a special screening of the network’s show reel. He was highly appreciative of the verve and vitality of Dim Sum TV’s programming. After watching the taping of one of the network’s shows, he was inspired to coin the phrase “lifestyle culture” to denote the expression of “culture” through the prism of everyday life. That is the approach taken by Dim Sum TV, which brings a culture to life by highlighting the trends and lifestyle aspirations of the young generation of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau. This is culture that comes into being through accumulation and distillation, and that could well become part of traditional culture tomorrow.
