Dr. Charles Yeung, Chairman of the CGCC, said in his opening speech that CEPA enshrines the model of mutually beneficial economic cooperation between the mainland and Hong Kong, and serves as the cornerstone for raising the service industry standards on both sides and promoting long-term economic development. He pointed out that the CGCC has been actively involved in CEPA at different stages, and has acted as a bridge between the mainland and Hong Kong as well as Guangdong and Hong Kong in their collaborative efforts. Held to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the signing of CEPA, the forum was particularly meaningful in exploring ways of building an effective, interactive platform for promoting the liberalization of Guangdong-Hong Kong economic and service industry exchanges within the CEPA framework.

Dr. Charles Yeung, Chairman of the CGCC, says that the forum aims to explore ways of liberalizing the exchanges between the economies and service industries of Guangdong and Hong Kong within the CEPA framework.

The forum was complemented by a photographic retrospective that chronicled the development of CEPA through the years. Receiving special attention were the positive impact CEPA has had on driving Hong Kong’s economy, the forging of closer ties between Hong Kong, the mainland and Guangdong, as well as the role played by the CGCC throughout the process.
