Mr. Zhang Huijian and Mr. Kit Szeto Visit Mr. Yang Jian, Deputy Minister of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong SAR.

On August 30, a delegation led by the chiefs of the two Dim Sum TV partner organizations, Mr. Zhang Huijian, President of Southern Media Corporation, and Mr. Kit Szeto, Director & CEO of Dim Sum TV, paid a formal visit to Mr. Yang Jian, Deputy Director-general of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong SAR. During their discussion, Mr. Yang encouraged Dim Sum TV to send a message of joy to the public by producing even more programming popular with Guangdong and Hong Kong audiences.

Following Mr. Kit Szeto’s briefing on Dim Sum TV, Mr. Yang pointed out that Dim Sum is a very appropriate name as it represents a Guangdong and Hong Kong cultural icon. It is characterized not only by delicacy and refinement, but great variety: there exist several thousand dim sum dishes. Dim Sum TV should live up to its name by producing content that appeals to a broad spectrum of tastes.

Dim Sum TV currently broadcasts in Hong Kong and Macau. Its productions must therefore cater to Hong Kong audiences while serving as a vehicle for the buoyant spirits of their mainland compatriots. There are over 1 million people in Hong Kong who have never visited the mainland, where phenomenal growth has been taking place in recent years. According to a survey conducted by a U.S. organization, the prevailing mood among mainland citizens regarding the future is one of unbridled optimism. He expressed his hope that Dim Sum TV will give Hong Kong audiences a deeper understanding of the mainland through its programming.
