The Press in Hong Kong Holds Largest Ever National Day Cocktail Reception.

On September 26, the press in Hong Kong held its annual National Day Cocktail Reception at the JW Marriott Hotel. This year’s cocktail reception was the largest ever, with the journalistic community turning out in full force to join guests from all walks of life to celebrate the 64th anniversary of the founding of the country. Yan and Jose of Dim Sum TV were the emcees at the event.

Mr. Zhang Guo Liang, President of the Preparatory Committee of Media Circles for National Day, said in his welcome speech that journalism in Hong Kong is marked by an illustrious history and ample freedom of press. It has also produced many notable figures through the years. All these have made the civilian press in Hong Kong one of the most successful around. Fundamentally, a civilian press must be professional, veracious, objective, comprehensive, fair and unbiased in its commentary and opinions. And it is these qualities that have made Hong Kong’s news media trusted and influential not only among Chinese communities but also in the international arena. He urged Hong Kong’s news media to continue to exemplify professionalism and fulfill the mission of the press.

During the event, the organizers presented the different organizational and individual sponsors with certificates of appreciation. Mr. Lin Rui Jun, Executive Vice President & Head of Dim Sum TV Channel, received the certificate on behalf of the TV network.

The guests of honour at the event included Mrs. Carrie Lam, Chief Secretary for Administration of the HKSAR, Mr. Yang Jian, Deputy Director-General of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR, Ms. Jiang Yu, Vice Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Feng Xiao Lin, Deputy Political Commissar of the People’s Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison, and Mr. Chen Yong Qi, Member of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress. They were joined by a large number of other guests for an exuberantly social, festive evening.
