Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Exhibitions Extol Virtues of Ecological Civilization and Green Living
The “Promote Ecological Civilization & Construct Beautiful China” Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Exhibitions were officially opened on January 4, 2014 in Hong Kong. The exhibitions showcased 160 paintings and calligraphy works of consummate artistry. The organizers’ aim was to present, through these exhibitions, the fruits of the China’s ecological endeavours to the people of Hong Kong.
The Cultural Industry Committee of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce (CGCC) was one of the supporting organizations for the event. Mr. Kit Szeto, Director & CEO of Dim Sum TV and Chairman of the Cultural Industry Committee of the CGCC was on hand to perform the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The works exhibited at the 10-day event were grouped mainly under 4 themes: history, portraits, landscapes, birds and flora. Of these, 44 were calligraphy scrolls, 96 were Chinese ink brush paintings and 20 were oil paintings. The artists exhibited included some of the most sought-after contemporary Chinese masters.

The exhibitions were a public service event that promoted green culture and ecological undertakings. The overall picture that emerged through the brush strokes of the artists was one of collective hope for a green, sustainable future.

The exhibition was held for 10 days, and was jointly organized by the State Forestry Administration of the PRC, the China Green Foundation, the Federation of Hong Kong Chiu Chow Community Organizations and Wen Wei Po of Hong Kong. The supporting organizations were the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the Chinese National Academy of Painting, the Chinese Artists Association, the Chinese Calligraphers Association, the Cultural Industry Committee of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce and Soka Gakki International of Hong Kong.
