Seize new opportunities with “Belt and Road” initiative

At the kick-off ceremony, Dr. Jonathan Koon-shum Choi, Chairman of CGCC, stated that during the past year, the downward pressure of Hong Kong’s economy was reflected in the slowdown of foreign trade, tourism and retail industries. However, he pointed out that, as a major node of the “21st Century Maritime Silk Road”, Hong Kong can leverage its advantageous geographical location to complement the development of the “Belt and Road” initiative. Dr. Choi hoped to further strengthen the implementation of the Hong Kong-ASEAN Free Trade Area Agreement in the coming year to enhance the competitiveness of Hong Kong-owned enterprises in the global market.
