Celebration of 20th Anniversary of Hong Kong’s Return to Motherland cum 18th Inaugural Ceremony of the Chairman of the Board of Directors and President of The Association of Chinese Culture of Hong Kong

The Association of Chinese Culture of Hong Kong (ACCHK) hosted the “Celebration of the 20th Anniversary of Hong Kong’s Return to Motherland cum 18th Inaugural Ceremony of the Chairman of the Board of Directors and President of The Association of Chinese Culture of Hong Kong” in the evening of August 15th at the Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wanchai.

The ceremony started off with officiating guests Mr. Zhang Xiaoming, the Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR, Mr. Lau Kong-Wah, the Secretary for Home Affairs of HKSAR, Mr. Xie Feng, the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the HKSAR and many outstanding political and business leaders.

In his opening speech, Mr. Gao Jingde, the President of ACCHK, mentioned the number of sub-groups of the association have grown from 34 to over 450 since the establishment of ACCHK 17 years ago. With over one hundred fifty thousand members, ACCHK has remarkably become Hong Kong’s largest and the most influential cultural community, thanks to the leadership and advice from both the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government and Chief Executive Office of HKSAR.

Reviewing the past 17 years, Mr. Gao Jingde pointed out that ACCHK has been successful in cultivating the "patriotic hearts"; "social harmony"; "long-term stability and prosperity"; "active political participation" and "friendly exchanges between Hong Kong and the Mainland as well as other countries” through cultural promotion.

Looking into the future development of ACCHK, Mr. Gao said the association would continue to meet, interact and assist members to reach out to the community across a wide spectrum of ages and political background, so as to enhance the cultural community and its overall quality, nurture responsible talents, and finally contribute to China’s peaceful reunification.
