Zhuhai Municipal Government held the Zhuhai Investment Climate cum 1st China-Latin America and the Caribbean Expo Promotion Conference in Hong Kong

In view of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge projects, the Zhuhai government hosted the Zhuhai Investment Climate cum 1st CLAC Expo Promotion Conference in Hong Kong on 25th August, facilitating cooperation and exchanges between Hengqin, Zhuhai and Hong Kong. Zhuhai government officials including Ms. Lu Xiaofeng, the Deputy Mayor of Zhuhai Municipal People’s Government, and Mr. Yang Chuan, the Director of the Administrative Committee of Hengqin New Area, attended the conference.

The CLAC Expo, China’s first comprehensive global fair mainly open to Latin America and the Caribbean, will be staged in Hengqin, Zhuhai from 9th to 11th November, announced Ms. Lu Xiaofeng. With the theme of “connecting with partners from afar”, the Expo is an international platform which incorporates branding, product display, negotiations and cultural exchanges among traders. There will be exhibitions and meetings covering trade of goods and services, technology cooperation, finance and investment, as well as tourism.

At the same time, the Latin-China Economic Cooperation Center has been established in the Hengqin Free Trade Zone. Phase One of the center, an area of thirty five thousand sqm, will officially open during the exhibition period of the CLAC Expo. Hengqin, as the new commercial hub of Latin-China economic cooperation, plays an important role of building ties with Latin American countries via the development of the LCECC and a series of Latin-China trade projects, taking cross-border cooperation to the next level.

Mr. Yang Chuan, the Director of the Administrative Committee of Hengqin New Area, introduced the latest projects of Hengqin and how Hong Kong enterprises benefit from the development of the area. He believed the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge would facilitate the flow of resources among the neighboring regions. The Zhuhai Government is initiating an HZMB economic zone by developing a Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Logistics Cooperation Center, an area of eight hundred thousand sqm, to provide a great opportunity for Hong Kong logistics industry to further develop in Zhuhai.

Once the HZMB project completes, Hengqin will become the only pilot free trade zone in the Mainland that directly connects to the land of Hong Kong and Macao. Mr. Yang added, Hengqin will remain a reliable partner of Hong Kong and Macao in the development of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
