Reception in Celebration of the 68th Anniversary of the Founding of The People’s Republic of China given by Compatriots of Commercial & Industrial Circles of Hong Kong
On the 21st of September, the Compatriots of Commercial and Industrial Organising Committee held a cocktail reception to celebrate the 68th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China at the Shangri-La Hotel, Hong Kong. Mr. Leung Chun Ying, Vice chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, Mr. Cheung Kin Chung, Acting Chief Executive of the HKSAR, Mr. Xie Feng, Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong, Mr. Tan Tieniu, Vice Chairman of the Liaison Office of the Central Government in Hong Kong, Mr. Chan Mo Po, the Financial Secretary, Mr. Yuen Kwok Keung, the Secretary for Justice and Mr. Leung Kwan Yuen, Chairman of the Legislative Council, were invited as officiating guests and celebrated the National Day with the Bureau of the Preparatory Committee, and over 500 guests from the business and industrial sectors and the community.
At the reception, Dr. Choi Koon Shum, Executive Chairman of the Organising Committee, warmly welcomed the guests on behalf of the Organising Committee. In his speech, he pointed out that the national strength and influence of China has progressively increased in the past 68 years, and the economy has maintained steady development. This year, the "one belt one road" initiative was actively promoted and has become the attention and a new impetus to promote global economic cooperation.
Dr. Choi expressed that the successful implementation of "one country, two systems" under the support of the Central Government in the past 20 years has provided Hong Kong with an important foundation for economic and social stability. The business community will fully support the new SAR Government in co-operation with all sectors for better economic development, and to seize the opportunites of “one belt one road”, the Guangdong-Hong Kong and Macao Bay and the implementation of the Hong Kong-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement.
