The exhibition was held at Rong Bao Zhai in Hong Kong from 23rd to 27th September, with a total of 60 pieces of work, including 12 pieces of ink painting and 48 pieces of calligraphy works. The theme of this exhibition was "Yan Tian Cun Geng", "Yan Tian" meaning to pick up the brush and keep up the constant hard work; "Cun Geng" means that an inch of the land is profound enough to cultivate sentiments. "Yan Tian Cun Geng" was not only the theme of the exhibition, but also Xu Kui Xun’s belief behind his creative works.

Being the famous painting and calligraphy artist and the Executive Dean of the Democratic Progressive Center, Mr. Xu Guixun explained that this was his artwork debut in Hong Kong. He had always insisted on the artistic style of "carefree but not wild, graceful but not vain". His works are full of humor, whether a poem or verse, is filled with the poet’s emotions. This exhibition aimed to promote the fine Chinese culture and encouraged the extensive exchanges and cooperation between the cultural and artistic aspects of Suzhou and Hong Kong.

The economic and trade exchanges between Suzhou and Hong Kong have become more frequent over the past twenty years, marking Hong Kong’s important role in Suzhou’s international trade. The frequent trade and cultural exchanges between Suzhou and Hong Kong have taken their historical origins and there is a Hong Kong common saying "there is no boat ride after Suzhou", which confirms the strong ties between the two places. This "Yan Tian Cun Geng" –Xu Guixun painting and calligraphy exhibition further highlights the bond between these two places.
