The Organising Committee of Compatriots in Hong Kong in Celebration of the 68th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China, presented a variety show on the evening of 1st of October at the Hong Kong Coliseum in Hung Hom. Mr. and Mrs. Tung Chee Hwa, Vice chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, Mr. Leung Chun Ying, Vice chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, Mrs. Carrie Lam, Chief Executive of HKSAR, Mr. Wang Zhimin, Director of the Liaison Office, Mr. and Mrs. Xie Feng, Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong, Mr. Tan Benhong, Commander of the People’s Liberation Army in Hong Kong, Mr. Yue Shixin, Political Commissar of People’s Liberation Army troops in Hong Kong, Mr. Cheung Kin Chung, Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr. Chan Mo Po, Financial Secretary, Mr. Yang Jian, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office, Mr. Nip Tak-kuen, Director of the Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau, Mr. Lau Kong Wah, Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr. Choi Koon Shum, Secretary General of the Organising Committee of Compatriots Hong Kong and other guests attended the evening celebration.

Guard of Honor of Army, Navy and Air Force of Chinese People’s Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison and Military Band of Chinese People’s Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison played the solemn national anthem with soldiers holding the flag and the synchronized march to the music officially kicked off the event.
The evening celebration lasted an hour and fifteen minutes, with eight wonderful performances "My Motherland", "Dynamic Dragons", "Soldier and Citizen Joining Hands", "Versatile Voices", "Thrilling Thunders”, "Cosmic Resonance", "An Epic Epoch" and "Descendant of the Dragon", one after another captivating the audience.
The first performance started with the celebrity Ms. Cally Kwong, a former Miss Hong Kong, who has been devoted to charity in recent years, sang the beautiful song “My Motherland”, wishing the motherland and the world peace. In addition, she hoped that under the same moon, all Chinese have the same affection towards the motherland no matter where they are in any part of the world.

Subsequently, a group of native Hong Kong young musicians, including Albert Chin, Elyse Choi, Trenyce Au, Kelly Yau and Vincent Yim, played Chinese music with western instruments. Alongside with the Tai Chi moves and Tai Chi sword from Hong Kong Taichi Youth Association and the International Martial Arts Charitable Foundation Association, they brilliantly presented the east meets west “Dynamic Dragons” performance.

To enjoy the evening with the public, the Art Troupe of Chinese People’s Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison performed exquisitely designed dance and songs.

At the end of the evening, Tuen Mun Children Choir sang "Descendant of the Dragon" together with all the performing guests that resonated with the audience and brought the evening to a perfect finale..
