Press Conference for 2017 Hong Kong Tuen Mun International Half Marathon
To commemorate Hong Kong Special Administrative Region’s 20th Anniversary of the Reunification with China and to increase the understanding of this year’s marathon events for the publics, a press conference was held on 2 November by Takungpao.com.hk. Takungpao.com.hk as the organizer, alongside with Tin Chi Group Company Limited, Harrow International School Hong Kong, Chinachem group, Luzhou Laojiao as sponsors, Yan Oi Tong, Tuen Mun Sports Association, Hong Kong Schools Sports Federation Tuen Mun Secondary Schools Area Committee, Tuen Mun District Secondary School Principals Association, ‘Train Station’ by Thomas Lam and Hong Kong International Sport Culture Limited as co-organizers, will be launching the 2017 Hong Kong Tuen Mun International Half Marathon on 17 December at 5 am in Tuen Mun District.

2017 Hong Kong Tuen Mun International Half Marathon is the first marathon race in Tuen Mun’s history. Tuen Mun Road will be closed for the marathon. The marathon includes a long-distance running race with an official distance of 42.195 kilometres and a half marathon road running event of 21.0975 km. The event will begin on 17 December at 5 am sharp for the participants. The starting and finishing point will both be located at Hau Kok Tin Hau Temple. The race shows the integration of Hong Kong local culture and outdoor sports as the path is along famous locations such as Harrow International School Hong Kong, Zhuhai College, Gold Coast and Castle Peak. Sports and entertainment celebrities, famous runner groups, international and china marathon lovers are invited to participate in the event. The total number anticipated will reach around 3,000 participants.
The event aims at presenting and promoting the beauty of culture and nature of Tuen Mun while spreading the spirit of runners; letting more people get in touch with Tuen Mun and to foster the economic development of Hong Kong. At the same time, the event wants to build a high standard platform for the exchange of partnership and friendship in sports. Tuen Mun, having the beautiful Gold Coast which is great for running, will become the heaven for runners around China, Asia and to the world.
