2017 Business Community’s Hong Kong Top Ten Current Events Poll

On 19 January, 2017 Business Community’s Hong Kong Top Ten Current Events Poll was co-organized by 25 organizations including Hong Kong Commercial Daily, Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, The Chinese Manufacturers´ Association of Hong Kong and Federation of Hong Kong Industries. The top news with the highest vote features Xi Jinping, President of the People´s Republic of China, visiting Hong Kong for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region’s 20th Anniversary of the Reunification with China.

Mr. Paul Chan, Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Mr. Jian Yang, Deputy Officer of The Liaison Office of the Central People´s Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Mr. Chung Kong Chau, member of Executive Council of the HKSAR, Chairman of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited, Mr Edward Yau Tang-wah, GBS, JP, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Ms. Annie Wu, standing committee member of the National Committee of the Chinese People´s Political Consultative Conference

Mr. Li Yan, President of Zhong Ji 1 International Medical Group (HK) Limited, Mr Yin Chan, President of Hong Kong Commercial Daily were officiating guests of the award presentation ceremony.

In the welcome speech, Mr Yin Chan, President of Hong Kong Commercial Daily, showed his gratitude towards the continuous support from the Special Administrative Region, The Liaison Office of the Central People´s Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the general public. This is the twelve year of Hong Kong Commercial Daily running the event from 2006.

Mr. Paul Chan, Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, emphasized that China will continue to be the major boost of economic growth. Mr. Chan also pointed out that Hong Kong could gain bigger opportunities and economies of scale given that it follows the flow of China and maintains the advantage as an international financial hub.

Representatives from various organizations expressed their views on the ten issues nominated during the award presentation ceremony. Dim Sum TV is one of the 20 supporting media towards the event.
