2017 voting campaign of the 10 best governance news awards

On 5 February 2018, the award presentation ceremony of the voting campaign on the 10 best governance news stories capturing Hong Kong special administrative region government’s governance was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Mrs. Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, Chief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Mr. Jian Yang, Deputy Officer of The Liaison Office of the Central People´s Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Mr. Ru’an Song, Deputy Commissioner, MFA Commissioner´s Office in the Hong Kong SAR, Mr. Zaizhong Jiang, Member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Director of Hong Kong Ta Kung Wen Wei Media Group Limited & Chairman of Organizing Committee were officiating guests of the event. Representatives from organizing and co-organizing media, local teachers and students also participated in the event, making a total of around 300 attendees.

One hundred and thirty-five thousand voted the top two news stories nominated were Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China, visiting Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Mrs. Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor elected as Chief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

Mr. Zaizhong Jiang, Member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Director of Hong Kong Ta Kung Wen Wei Media Group Limited & Chairman of Organizing Committee pointed out in his speech that ‘Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China, visiting Hong Kong for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region’s 20th Anniversary of the Reunification with China’ got high attention from Hong Kong citizens showed the success of ‘One Country Two System’. President Xi’s speech enlightened the future development of Hong Kong.

Mrs. Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, Chief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region thanked Hong Kong citizens for their support, stating that the government still has a lot of work to do, especially through different social sectors meeting the expectation from the general public.
