On 22 February 2018, The Chinese General Chamber of Commerce (CGCC) Spring Cocktail Reception was held at Grand Hyatt Hong Kong. Mr. Chee-hwa Tung, Vice-chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Mrs. Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, Chief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Mr. Feng Xie, Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Mr. Tieniu Tan, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Mr. Guoyue Zheng, Deputy Commissioner of the People’s Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison, Mr. Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr. Paul Chan Mo-po, Financial Secretary, Ms. Teresa Cheng Yeuk-wah, Secretary for Justice and Mr. Andrew Leung Kwan-yuen, President of LegCo were officiating guests of the CGCC Spring Cocktail Reception.

Dr. Jonathan Koon-shum Choi, Chairman of CGCC urges the Industrial and Business Community in Hong Kong to participate more effectively in the construction of “The Belt and Road” and The Bay Area to create a new milestone for the sustained development of our economy. CGCC will continue to assist member companies in the New Year to tie in with the country’s economic situation and the pace of regional cooperation, actively exploring new business and investment opportunities.

Mrs. Carrie Lam shared in her speech that The Chinese General Chamber of Commerce has been a very close partner of the Hong Kong SAR Government in promoting the development of trade and industries in Hong Kong. In particular, the Chamber has been supporting Hong Kong’s participation in The Belt and Road Initiative and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area development. These two national initiatives, together with the Free Trade Agreement signed between Hong Kong and the ASEAN last year, are set to be the engines of economic growth. She thanked the Chamber for its efforts in the past year. She looked forward to working closely with the Chamber to enable business sectors to grasp the opportunities ahead.
