Mr. Szeto Kit, Mr. David Pong and Mr. Giovanni Chan introduced Mrs. Fan to the different aspects of the network’s operation. They also articulated Dim Sum TV’s long-standing commitment to the Greater Pearl River Delta region and its Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau cultural perspective, as well as its role as a conduit of information on local and national socio-economic development. Mrs. Fan was pleased by the progress the network has made. Mrs. Rita Fan (center), Mr. Kit Szeto (right) and Mr. David Pong (left) exchanging pleasantries.

Mrs. Fan said that, in contrast to Hong Kong’s mainstream media, Dim Sum TV’s programming was constructive and positive. She suggested that, as the network grew in influence and stature, more programmes be produced to promote credibility and trust in the public arena. Credibility and trust are two of the mainstays of Hong Kong society, and efforts to reinforce these qualities are best initiated in the flourishing Greater Pearl River Delta region.

Mrs. Fan pointed out that current media coverage in Hong Kong and Macau has not been able to keep pace with the rapid development in Guangdong, while information on the Greater Pearl River Delta is especially lacking in overseas Chinese communities. It is a situation Dim Sum TV is eminently well-placed to address. One example is the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong Express Rail. The popular perception is that the end of the line will be in Shi Bi, Pan Yu, a long way from Guangzhou, when in reality a multitude of connections to other localities will make regional travel very convenient. A corollary of this is the significantly increased market potential of the properties around the Shi Bi area. In addition, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, upon completion, will cut travel time from Hong Kong to Zhuhai drastically, and likely boost property prices in Zhuhai. These are just some of the topics that will find an audience among Hong Kong’s middle-class.
