Mission Green Premiere Press Conference
Full Of Positive Energy For Environmental Protection

On March 19, a press conference was held in the Multi-Media Auditorium of the HKICC Lee Shau Kee School of Creativity in Hong Kong for the premiere of Mission Green, the new environmental infotainment series jointly produced by Dim Sum TV and Guang Dong Xing Huang Culture & Communication Co. Ltd. The celebrity hosts of the highly anticipated series, Kay Tse, Soler and Terence Yin, plus close to 100 reporters and guests from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau were on hand to show their support for the environment.

Mission Green premiered on March 24 in a Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau simulcast, on Dim sum TV Channel 539 of Hong Kong’s now TV, Channel 16 of Macau’s Cable TV and Guangdong TV’s News Channel. Viewers can also catch the show on dimsumtv.net and youku.com!

The series is made up of 10 episodes. Joining Kay, Soler, Terence and Tin Yao as hosts are a new generation of up-and-coming TV personalities, including Woody, Howard, Danni and Rika. They take the audience on a 10-part tour of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau, highlighting the best new ideas in environmental protection and chronicling the stories of devoted green practitioners.

The press conference got off to a creative, dramatic start. Two “farmers”, joined on stage by two children, watered a plant, from which a “Flower Fairy” emerged to underline the idea of the show: eco-living starts with you, your actions and your lifestyle.

Ivy, the emcee, reunited Soler hosts of the forth episode of Mission Green, with students from the Primary School of Hou Kong Middle School (China Macau), whom the brothers met during the shoot. Together, they performed a heart-warming rendition of the song “Blue Cradle”. Besides Macau, Soler also visited Zhaoqing. It was there that they had a truly unique and memorable experience, “singing and dancing” with the red-crowned cranes at a wetland wildlife reserve. Julio, the older brother, jokingly said, “Red-crowned cranes are natural born singers! They should be signed to a record label!”

While shooting in Macau, Soler bonded with a group of primary school students from Macau, who made a special appearance at the press conference and sang with the brothers on stage in a moving performance.

Likewise, Woody and Rika found the shoot a very enlightening experience. From his visit to the Zhanjiang mangrove forest, Woody came away with the understanding that caring for the environment is a 3-step journey. First, learning the meaning and importance of environmental protection. Second, realizing that environmental protection starts with individual action. Third, inspiring others to join the cause. Rika, the co-host of the “Appetite for Hong Kong” episode, was amazed at the variety of organic foodstuffs Hong Kong produces. For her, green living can be summed with the 3Rs: Recycle, Reduce and Reuse.

Of all the people Terence met during the shoot, Captain Lau of the macaque reserve on Lema Island in Zhuhai made the deepest impression on him. Captain Lau has devoted 22 years of his life to the preservation of macaques. He definitely feel guilty towards his family, however, he has no regrets about his work. Also making an appearance at the press conference was a “princess” from the Yao tribe of Nanling, Shaoguan, who talked about the environmentally conscious lifestyle of her people outlined in one of the episodes. Caught up in the moment, Terence gave an impromptu performance of his new song, “Suddenly, Summer”, which earned a big round of applause.

The last celebrity host to appear was Kay Tse. Through a series of interactions with an environmental designer on stage, Kay highlighted the new trend to “Renew & Regenerate”. She pointed out that environmental protection should be a principle and a way of life; green living is “in”, and can be beautiful, cool and artistic. To demonstrate her commitment, she has invited the show’s designer to design costumes for her 2012 concert.

As the press conference drew to a close, dancers from Guangdong and Hong Kong slow-flashed the name Mission Green across the stage. It was a reminder that the hectic pace of modern life often makes it impossible for city-dwellers to enjoy life. The press conference ended with a call to slow down, for ourselves and for the earth, and to adopt a low-carbon, green lifestyle.
