Mr. Kit Szeto outlined for Mr. Chu and his party Dim Sum TV’s unique positioning as a Greater Pearl River Delta TV network operating within a Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau cross-cultural and developmental framework. Of particular interest to the visitors was Dim Sum TV’s commitment to aligning with national policies through the production of content with a Greater Pearl River Delta perspective, mass appeal, a focus on regional economic and lifestyle developments.

The delegation was given a special screening of Dim Sum TV’s program show reel and a making-of documentary of the network’s new environmental infotainment program for 2012, Mission Green. Mr. Chu said that Dim Sum TV’s positioning and core values represent an outstanding concept that not only dovetails with national policies, but also advocates and articulates the integrative exchange between Guangdong and Hong Kong. He expressed his view that Chinese culture is a rich tapestry of diverse elements; certain cultural traditions will atrophy unless they are brought to a wider audience. Dim Sum TV’s unique geo-cultural and market sensibilities, together with its keen sense of mission, will combine to create for the network strong prospects for growth.

Mr. Chu also pointed out that, with the broader implementation of CEPA as well as the emergence of Hengqin Dao and Shenzhen Qianhai as the focal points of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau cooperation, the region’s industrial base will encompass culture and entertainment, printing, film and television. One of the implications for the enterprises and Hong Kong and Macau personnel based in the area will be preferential tax rates. He suggested that a better understanding of the matter would enable Dim Sum TV to acquire more resources for future development.
